| Progress with our PNG business | |
| We are also very happy to announce our new PNG business, Pax Populus Melanesia.
Undefeated by the trials of negotiating with the PNG bureaucracy sagging under the pressure of the current resources boom in PNG, Pax Populus Melanesia is now up and running. Tim's presence as MD of the new company will mean many of you will see his face around Moresby as we pick up clients for the conflict resolution and social impact offerings we are developing. Pax (Melanesia) will greatly advance the opportunity to work in PNG and deliver a local team on some of our PNG contracts. New PNG contracts will now be split between Pax (Melanesia) for in-country work and Pax Aus for work outside PNG. Pax (Melanesia) is the first of a number of planned extensions of the Pax Populus brand into the Asia-Pacific region. |

| What's been happening? | |
| We're very busy at present (we would say that) on some challenging resources-sector projects. Wind, forestry and water are standouts, with our activities spread across setting up an Informed Consensus process, social research, stakeholder mapping, training in conflict resolution, community relations and business sustainability, mediation and communication strategy.
Barbara's been talking about high stakes reputation and Informed Consensus process design to Masters of Public Policy students at Melbourne University, and will shortly be presenting to the local chapter of the International Association of Business Communication about reputation communication and engagement in high stakes projects. Tim was recently invited to speak on Alternative Dispute Resolution at a workshop convened by Singapore University on Access to Remedies for Corporate Human Rights Abuses where our Informed Consensus conflict resolution process was very well received. |

| Tailored Training in Conflict Resolution for the Resources Sector | |
We are first and foremost practitioners and have put this hands-on experience into building the capacity of our clients to sort out conflicts for themselves. We can help you prepare for, manage and resolve the conflicts that are a part of everyday business operations. We have a 'Dealing with Resources Conflicts' training package designed for in-house delivery over two or three days. It is targeted at staff and managers who have direct contact with community stakeholders. The course includes the opportunity to work on specific company issues and develop appropriate interventions to be applied by the corporate team.  |
